The Pharmacy Technician will enter refill requests through the electronic medical record for Physician approval. In addition, the Pharmacy Technician will maintain good customer service by accepting prescriptions or refill requests, process sales and answer questions for customers. Achieves customer satisfaction by promptly processing prescriptions, sales transactions , and answering questions.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
(A = basics; B = preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of Technician training program
Minimum 2-4 years retail pharmacy experience
Completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
HMO and 3rd party managed care experience
To read merchandise labels and invoices; to ask and answer questions over the phone; to write information on prescriptions.
Able to communicate with customers to handle complaints and problems.
Know when to refer questions, problems, and complaints to a pharmacist.
Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions.
Math cash handling – able to add and subtract; able to make change; able complete daily cash report.
Type 20 WPM.
10 key by touch
Stress Tolerance – to receive prescriptions and ring up sales in a fast paced environment.
Physical stamina – to work in fast paced environment, and maneuver around pharmacy.
