Operate, monitor, and maintain all physical plant equipment including water chillers, steam and hot water boilers, air compressors, generators, cooling towers, air handlers, and HVAC systems. Respond to Building Automation System alarms, utility interruptions, and facility emergencies. Complete minor preventive maintenance work and machinery history logs. Respond to facility service outages by making immediate repairs or initiating recall of appropriate personnel. Perform general preventive maintenance and repair services to all physical plant operating equipment, hydraulic machinery, and mechanical systems during non-standard working hours (evenings, shift work, including weekends).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School Graduate or Equivalent
High Pressure Boiler experience. Operating Room, Medical Air Systems and Life Safety Systems experience. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Ability to read blueprints, sketches, O&M Manuals, and diagrams. Independent work in both routine and emergency situations. Effective communications skills. Valid driver’s license. Basic electrical skills. Applicants subject to background investigation & driving record evaluation.
HVAC/R journeyman's license. Familiarity with Siemens Controls and Trane Tracer building automation systems and EPAC Work Order System. Experience in emergency response, hazardous materials handling, applicable OSHA/EPA regulations. CFC Certification.
City of Houston 3rd Grade Stationary Engineer; City of Houston Apprentice
Maintain knowledge of state, local and Uniform Mechanical Codes.
Computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
