JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Refill Technician will enter refill requests through the electronic medical record for Physician approval.  In addition,  the Pharmacy Refill Technician will maintain good customer service by accepting prescriptions or refill requests, process sales and answer questions for customers.  Achieves customer satisfaction by promptly processing prescriptions, sales transactions , and answering questions.  

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

(A = basics; B = preferred)

 

Education

A.

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of Technician training program

B.

 

Experience

A.

Minimum 2-4 years retail pharmacy   experience

Or

Completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program

B.

HMO and 3rd party managed care experience

Licenses

A.

TSBP Registration

B.

PTCB Certification

Communicate

A.

To read merchandise labels and invoices; to ask and answer questions over the phone; to write information on prescriptions.

 

Able to communicate with customers to handle complaints and problems.

B.

Know when to refer questions, problems, and complaints to a pharmacist.

Special Skills

A.

Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions.

 

Math cash handling – able to add and subtract; able to make change; able complete daily cash report.

 

Type 20 WPM.

B.

10 key by touch

Other

A.

Stress Tolerance – to receive prescriptions and ring up sales in a fast paced environment.

 

Physical stamina – to work in fast paced environment, and maneuver around pharmacy.

NOTE:  THE PHARMACY FLOAT TECHNICIAN ROLE REQUIRES WORKING AT THE VARIOUS KELSEY SEYBOLD CLINICS THROUGHOUT THE GREATER HOUSTON METROPOLITAN.
