Upon the order of a qualified healthcare provider, the Vascular/Echo Ultrasound Technologist will operate equipment using high frequency sound waves for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Cardiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic to perform vascular and/or cardiac sonography. The Ultrasound Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS) as is applicable. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non technical if training, experience and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties. These procedures may include EKGs, holter monitoring, event monitoring, stress echocardiograms, contrast echocardiograms, and satellite test transmissions and result coordination.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
(A = basics; B = preferred)
A. High School Diploma
B. Associates degree in related healthcare field
Bachelor’s degree in related health field
A. 1 or more years of direct clinical experience in all phases of echocardiography and vascular studies. Demonstrated ability to perform echocardiography studies to the satisfaction of the Kelsey-Seybold Cardiologists.
B. Greater than 2 years experience performing vascular or echocardiography
Experience performing EKG testing, Holter monitoring, Event monitoring, and/or Transtelephonic pacemaker systems or similar experience. .
Phillips Sonos 5500, Siemens Soquai, Parks Flo Lab 2100SX equipment familiarity
A. RVT, BLS certification
A. Basic computer, CRT, and typing experience.
B. PACS and RIS experience
Speaks an additional language
A. May be required to work extended shifts in situations deemed necessary by the Cardiology Lab Supervisor or the Exercise Physiologist Coordinator.
