JOB SUMMARY

The Manger, HIM & Privacy Office is responsible for leading and directing health information management services across the organization. This position reports directly to the VP – Compliance, with a matrix reporting relationship with other key departments in the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic network of administrative structure. In carrying out policies and procedures set by other departments, the Manager, HIM & Privacy Office will be familiar with the functions of these departments and interact with them appropriately. The key departments include Information Systems, Finance, Purchasing, Human Resources, Managed Care, Business Office, Ancillary Units (Laboratory, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine), Quality Assurance and Risk Management. The Medical Record Manager is expected to provide input to the VP-Compliance regarding operations of HIM and Privacy Office

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

(A = basics; B = preferred)

 

Education

A.

Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration or a related field.

B.

 Health Information System

Experience

A.

5 years of professional level health care with a minimum of 3 years in a medical records setting.

2 years of experience demonstrating abilities to manage people or projects.

B.

 

License

A.

Must obtain RHIA or RHIT certification within 6 months of hire date.

B.

 

Special Skills

A.

Knowledge of State & Federal Regulations

B.

A.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
