The Ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients seen in the Optometry or Ophthalmology departments. He or she will ensure the safety and comfort of patient and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
(A = basics; B = preferred)
High School Diploma or GED
At least 1 year previous work experience under an Ophthalmologist with ophthalmic certification or Graduate of an approved vision technology school.
2 years of previous work experience under an ophthalmologist.
Certified as OA.
Able to use NCT, auto refractor, perform gross visual fields and gross motility exam, slit lamp operation, applanation tonometry, operate IOL master, evaluate pupils, use of OCT/HRT, pachymetry, corneal topography and Humphrey VF Knowledge and dosage of ophthalmology drops.
Able to Scribe, use portable tonopen,, Goldman VF, Fundus photography, Fluroscein Anniogram, Immersion IOL,
