    JOB SUMMARY

    Responsible for proper decontamination, inspection, sterilization and processing of all instrumentation/equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions for use.

     

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    (A = basics; B = preferred)

     

    Education

    A.

    Graduate of an accredited central sterile processing tech program

    B.

     

    Experience

    A.

    One year experience as a sterile processing technician is strongly desired.

     

    B.

    Ambulatory Surgery Center or hospital experience preferred. Experience as a surgical technologist.

    Licenses

    A.

    CPR - Must be certified CSPD or willing to obtain certification within one year of hire. 

    B.

    Certified CSPD technician

    Special   Skills

    A.

    Basic computer skills

     

    B.

     

     

    Other

    A.

    Knowledge of AAMI & AORN standards and recommendations. Clear understanding of sterilization process.
